PSL 2023: Mohammad Amir outbursts on a teammate Tayyab Tahir during a match between Karachi Kings and Quetta Gladiators on Monday. In the 22nd match of PSL, bottom-placed Gladiators played against Karachi Kings who are right above them at the fifth spot in the PSL points table.
Former Pakistani Captain Sarfaraz Ahmed led Gladiators elected to field first against Karachi in Rawalpindi Cricket Stadium. The boys in purple and golden shirts restricted Karachi at 164/6 in the first innings where only Adam Rossington looked better against Quetta’s bowlers.
Coming down to chase 165 runs, Quetta’s inning fumbled from one end as the other end was held tight by Martin Guptill, but in the end, it all went Gladiators’ way as their captain safeguarded them towards the victory along with Guptill who scored unbeaten 86 runs, facing 56 balls. Although Karachi Kings fought till the end and lost with only one ball remaining.
This was Gladiators’ second win overall which came after losing five back-to-back matches whereas Karachi Kings’ third back-to-back loss.
