KL Rahul, IND vs AUS: One of the most intriguing discussions for the third Test between India and Australia is about who will open with Rohit Sharma. Despite his run of poor results, India has maintained faith in KL Rahul.
India’s six-wicket victory in the second Test against Australia ensured that Rohit and Co. will play the finals of the World Test Championship. Rohit also made it clear that players like KL Rahul, who are very talented will always be backed by the team.
According to the Indian skipper, KL Rahul’s dismissal as the vice-captain of the Test side “indicates nothing”. Although, India has not named a vice-captain for the series’ final two Tests.
Former India opener Aakash Chopra, on the other hand, believes that the moment has come to drop KL Rahul. Shubman Gill will be in his starting XI for the third Test in Indore, which begins on Wednesday.

IND vs AUS: KL Rahul or Shubman Gill? a big headache for the team management
By the halfway stage of this Border Gavaskar Trophy series, team management has a big decision to make. Whether it will be KL Rahul or Shubhman Gill who opens with the skipper Rohit Sharma.
Gill batted longer than any other member of India’s top order on Monday, two days before the third Test. KL Rahul batted nearly as long. Both the batters were practicing next to each other in nets.
When asked about the practice sessions and Gill’s active sessions in the conference, skipper Rohit Sharma stated it was usual and that playing XI would be revealed only at the toss.
India leads the four-match series 2-0. If they win the third Test, they would not only win the Border-Gavaskar Trophy, but they will also secure a place in the World Test Championship final.

Former coach Ravi Shastri chooses Gill over Rahul
On the eve of the third Test, scheduled to be played at the Holkar Stadium in Indore, former India head coach Ravi Shastri has given his opinion on Gill vs Rahul subject.
KL Rahul has been touted as the team’s No.1 pick so far, but his lean patch has sparked calls for him to be pulled from the squad and replaced by an in-form Shubman Gill.
KL Rahul has only scored 38 runs in three innings, lowering his career average to 35 in 47 Tests. Speaking on The ICC Review, Shastri believes that Rahul Dravid should back Gill for the Indore Test.
Virat Kohli would also like to regain his form in test cricket. He appeared to be in fine touch until he got out on a controversial note. His fans will be eager to see him in action in the third game.
