Sarfaraz Khan Sunil Gavaskar: In Indian cricket, Sarfaraz Khan remains a rare exception. He has scored a lot of runs, but he is still not considered for a spot in the Indian team. Since Sarfaraz was not selected for Team India’s Test squad for the four-match Border-Gavaskar Trophy and players like Ishan Kishan and Suryakumar Yadav were given their first-ever Test call-up, there has been a growing chorus of support for Sarfaraz’s inclusion.

Venkatesh Prasad and Sunil Gavaskar, two former cricketers, were the most outspoken on Twitter and in their respective columns.

Particularly after the BCCI selectors repeatedly ignored Sarfaraz, Gavaskar was a little harsh. The ex-India captain had made fun of Chetan Sharma and strongly supported Sarfaraz by responding to those who questioned his fitness. This comes after Sarfaraz scored three centuries and 556 runs in six matches.

“If you only want men who are slim and trim, you should go to a fashion show, find some other models, give them a bat and ball, and then work on them.” Cricket does not operate in this way. Cricketers come in all sizes and shapes. Consider the scores or wickets rather than the size.

When he scores a hundred, he does not withdraw from the field. He is back on the field once more. Therefore, everything points to the man’s fitness,” Sunil Gavaskar had stated to India Today.

Sunil Gavaskar criticizes Chetan Sharma for body-shaming Sarfaraz Khan saying he is not fit to play cricket.

In his first response to it since January, Sarfaraz Khan stated prior to the IPL 2023 that he had been working extra hard on his fitness. Sarfaraz spends a typical day batting for hours against up to six different bowlers, indicating that he is in excellent physical condition. In the interim, Sarfaraz also participated in a Delhi Capitals-organized fitness camp, where he jumped right in.

“I just recently heard that. I saw it in the morning and heard everything he had to say because I was playing in the Ranji Trophy. It is important to stay fit. I returned home at 2 a.m. and was back on the field at 5 a.m. when our last Ranji Trophy match ended. Therefore, my ground fitness is adequate, and I try to maximize my running experience during Ranji or IPL. DC recently held a 14-day fitness camp in Delhi. “We do it with whatever we have,” Sarfaraz told SportsYaari.

The 25-year-old stated that he is content to wait for an India call-up when discussing his wait. Keeping up his good form is more important to Sarfaraz Khan than playing for India. Similar to Suryakumar Yadav, a player who made his much-anticipated India debut after a long wait and rose to the top of the ICC rankings in two years, Sarfaraz does not mind following in his friend’s footsteps.

“I’m focusing on the form I’m in now, making sure I keep it for as long as possible. I’m doing this because it’s hard to get your form back when you lose it. A player may occasionally receive a late call-up.

Take, for instance, Suryakumar Yadav. He is an excellent pal; We talk about our skills constantly and both play powerful sweep shots. As a result, he is in good form despite his late start. Therefore, I, too, don’t mind waiting a little longer, but it’s important to keep this form,” Sarfaraz stated.
