The Border Gavaskar Trophy not only ensured India’s qualification for the ICC World Test Championship final. The series also hinted at what Shubman Gill could bring to the club in the future.
In 2023, Gill has already achieved an ODI double-century, a T20I hundred, and his second Test tonne after replacing KL Rahul as an opener in the fourth Test against Australia in Ahmedabad.
India defeated Australia 2-1 to retain the Border Gavaskar Trophy, their fourth straight Test series victory over them dating back to 2017.

Sourav Ganguly lauded the trio of Ravichandran Ashwin, Ravindra Jadeja, and Axar Patel for their contributions to India’s series victory. Ganguly acknowledged how Axar had contributed significantly with the bat lower in the order.

“Ashwin and Jadeja have been very good. You also have to speak about Axar Patel. He quietly does a good job lower down the order with the bat.” said Ganguly about the spin-trio.

Ganguly believes India will defeat Australia in the World Test Championship final
