Kaviya Maran, SRH Chairman, was left disappointed and unhappy after her bid went unnoticed during the Indian Premier League(IPL) 2023 auction.
Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) had a successful outing at the IPL 2023 players auction, acquiring many talented players, including Harry Brook, Mayank Aggarwal, Heinrich Klassen, and Adil Rashid.
As a result, SRH is now considered to be a well-rounded and competitive franchise. During the mini-auction for the 2023 IPL season, Sunrisers Hyderabad (the 2016 champions) began the bidding for the twelfth entrant.
Kaviya Maran, the daughter of the Sun TV chairman, quickly raised her paddle as soon as the name of South African wicketkeeper-batsman Heinrich Klassen was announced.

During the IPL auction, Hugh Edmeades, the auctioneer, needed to recognize the initial legal base price bid for Heinrich Klaasen. Instead, he recorded Delhi Capitals’ subsequent bid as the first offer.
This led to a bidding war between Delhi Capitals and Kolkata Knight Riders before Edmeades announced that Klaasen had been sold to Delhi Capitals for INR 1.20 CR.
Kaviya Maran was upset when the auctioneer did not register her bid for Heinrich Klassen. She signaled to the auctioneer that she had also raised her paddle and sent a Sunrisers Hyderabad official to inform the organizers about the mistake.
After the misunderstanding with Kaviya Maran’s initial bid, Hugh Edmeades, the auctioneer, reopened the bidding and recorded Sunrisers Hyderabad’s offer as the next one.
Who Secured Klaasen Atlast?
This led to a heated bidding war between Delhi Capitals and Sunrisers Hyderabad, both of which were determined to acquire the services of middle-order batsman Heinrich Klaasen. In the end, Maran could secure Klaasen for a price of 5.25 CR.
It is expected that Heinrich Klaasen will be a strong contender for a regular starting spot on the Sunrisers Hyderabad team in the 2023 IPL season and compete with New Zealand’s Glenn Phillips for the wicketkeeper-batsman position.
Kaviya Maran demonstrated shrewdness during the 2023 IPL auction by avoiding the competition for all-rounders and instead focusing on investing in specialist batters and bowlers.
