T20 World Cup 2022: England international Sam Curran was a stellar performer in the eighth edition of the ICC Men’s Twenty20 World Cup 2022 tournament in Australia.
The young all-rounder bagged as many as 13 wickets in the competition. He also bagged a five-wicket-haul against Afghanistan in the Super 12.
Moreover, he also became the first bowler to take a fifer in the shortest format of the game. He turned up his ante in the final against the Pakistan cricket team.
The youngster accounted for three dismissals, giving away just 12 runs in his quota of 4 overs. Interestingly, he didn’t concede even a single boundary in the process.
Sam Billings drew plaudits for his exceptional performance throughout the tournament. He was named the man of the match for his scintillating bowling spell against Pakistan.
It is also worth mentioning here that he was also named the man of the tournament for his overall performance.

Meanwhile, the young all-rounder Sam Curran felt that Ben Stokes should have won the player of the match award in the T20 World Cup final against Pakistan.
The productive all-rounder showcased grit and determination in the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2022 final against Pakistan at Melbourne Cricket Ground.
He took the game till the end and ensured to get the job done for England. Ben Stokes hit the winning run for the team as England went on lift the second T20 World Cup title.
“Ahh! I don’t think this award is for me. Ben Stokes deserves this, as he has done this many times for England. So, I think he is the real owner of this,” Curran’s reply won the hearts of the fans.
“The plan was simple. It was to bowl according to the dimensions of the ground. So I planned accordingly and executed them really well. Pakistan bowled brilliantly. They nipped around and put us under pressure.
“Stokes is a guy that we, the younger boys, look upto. He has the experience, and he has done it in these big stages. He is a great player. People do question him, which is incredible. Amazing crowd tonight,” Curran further added.
