Virat Kohli Opens Up About Finally Being Able To End His Century Drought In Test Cricket

CRICKEX

Virat Kohli Test Cricket: Although the Ahmedabad Test ended in a draw, India won the Border-Gavaskar Trophy 2-1 and advanced to the World Test Championship finals under the leadership of Rohit Sharma.

Virat Kohli’s roaring return to form in Tests was yet another reason for Indian fans to celebrate. With a score of 186 runs against Australia, the former Men in Blue captain broke his streak of not scoring a century for over 3 years.

Now there’s one more reason to cheer for the fans. The Leading Group of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has dropped a video of a post-match interview between Virat Kohli and India lead trainer Rahul Dravid.

The two, who are well-known for their close relationship, discuss a variety of topics in the video, including Virat Kohli‘s ability to play according to the needs of the team and his return to form.

Rahul Dravid starts the conversation by talking about Kohli’s return to Test cricket. The India coach made a joke about how he wanted to watch Kohli score a hundred in a Test from the comfort of the team’s dressing room and enjoy it. While Dravid had to wait a long time for the sight, “it was worth the wait,” he stated.

Additionally, the two discussed Kohli’s approach to the innings and the difficulties he encountered.

Kohli said that he was able to score because his defense is his strongest point, admitting that Australia used the pitch well. When the ball is loose and ready to hit, I know that if I defend well, I can capitalize and score runs. Because I know I can bat in a variety of ways, I feel confident when I go to the field, “Kohli stated.

In addition, the right-handed batter stated that rather than becoming desperate about scoring boundaries, he was content to bat for five-six sessions and score singles and doubles to reach a hundred.

Dravid called Kohli an inspiration and heaped praise on him for his dedication to the game and his lifestyle. People in the dressing room, as well as others, are inspired by the lifestyle you have chosen to lead. He also praised Kohli for being willing to play to the needs of his team.

Kohli talked openly about his poor Test performance in the post-match interview. “Due to my own flaws, I think I let it get to me a little bit. Any player can become increasingly desperate for a century, as we have all experienced. To a certain extent, I allowed it to happen to me.

On the other hand, I don’t like scoring 40 or 50 runs. I always feel proud when I do well for the team. I was aware that I could help my team if I scored 50 runs or more. The way that I couldn’t do that was gobbling me up a ton,” Kohli said.

The India star added that he was ecstatic he could finally get his rhythm back just before the World Test Championship Final and he would be really loosened up now before the big match.
