Jasprit Bumrah in WPL 2023: Mumbai Indians ace bowler Jasprit Bumrah was seen during the WPL Final 2023 in stands along with his fellow teammate Jofra Archer. This was the first public appearance of the Indian pacer after his back surgery.
Following his decision to withdraw from the home T20Is against South Africa in late September last year, Bumrah has been absent from competitive cricket. He was unable to participate in the T20 World Cup held in Australia and also missed out on the Asia Cup, which took place in the UAE last year.
The 29-year-old tried to make a return to the game in January this year for the ODI series against Sri Lanka. However, he was removed from the squad just before the opening match in Guwahati.
Unfortunately, The right-arm bowler has now been ruled out of the upcoming IPL season and the World Test Championship final in June. Jasprit Bumrah‘s absence from the field has cost the men in blues, as they could not win any tournaments in the previous year.
On Sunday, Mumbai Indians posted a video on their Instagram account showing Jasprit Bumrah in the stands for WPL Final 2023. He had a conversation with England’s fast bowler Jofra Archer at the Brabourne Stadium.
Given that the 29-year-old Indian pacer will not be featuring in IPL 2023, Jofra Archer, who missed the previous season due to injury, will likely lead the bowling attack for the Mumbai Indians this year.
Mumbai Indians’ fans will have to wait one more season before the deadly duo of Archer-Bumrah will spit fire on the opposition teams. It was highly speculated that the duo will play together this year but Bumrah’s back surgery made it impossible.
The Mumbai Indians are set to commence their IPL 2023 campaign on April 2 against the Royal Challengers Bangalore at the M Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru.
