WPL 2023: Issy Wong Scripts history, Picks First Hat -Trick of Women’s Premier League History

WPL 2023, Issy Wong: UP Warriorz were facing Mumbai Indians in the 20th match on Friday, March 24. Moreover, the game was being played at Dr DY Patil Sports Academy in Navi Mumbai, India.

Mumbai Indians were coming into this fixture after winning against Royal Challengers Bangalore on Tuesday. Royal Challengers Bangalore scored 125 runs while Mumbai Indians scored 129 runs and they won the match by four wickets. 

UP Warriorz were coming into this fixture after losing against Delhi Capitals on Tuesday. UP Warriorz scored 138 runs while Delhi Capitals scored 142 runs and they won the match by five wickets.

Mumbai Indians went on to have a fine start with a 31 runs partnership between Yastika Bhatia and Hayley Matthews. Nat Sciver-Brunt went on to score 72 runs from 38 balls with a strike rate of 189.47.

WPL 2023: Mumbai Indians scored 182 runs with a loss of four wickets against UP Warriorz. However, UP Warriorz put up a horrible display with the bat. They batted irresponsibly which was absent in the opposition’s approach. 

UP Warriorz put up 110 runs with a loss of ten wickets and Mumbai Indians won the match by 72 runs. It was a fine performance from them.

A lot of records were created in this year’s Women’s Premier League tournament. It was quite a competitive edition but only Mumbai Indians and Delhi Capitals managed to show quality.

Issy Wong went on to script history as she became the first player to pick up a hat trick in the Women’s Premier League tournament. This happened in the 13th over of the match.
