Jintimani Kalita catch, WPL 2023: Mumbai Indian’s Jintimani Kalita takes a stunning catch to dismiss Ashleigh Gardner on Tuesday’s WPL clash against Gujarat Giants. Harmanpreet Kaur-led MI cruised towards their fifth win against Gujarat to maintain their 100% winning record in the inaugural season of the Women’s Premier League.
In the 12th encounter of WPL, Sneh Rana-led Gujarat Giants opted to field first against table toppers. Coming down to bat first, MI posted a target of 163 runs after losing 8 wickets with the help of their Opener Yastika Bhatia’s 44 runs and their captain’s 51 runs innings.
Gujarat struggled while chasing the target as no batter could go past the 22 runs mark. Batters looked clueless in front of MI’s bowling attack with Hayley Matthews and Sciver-Brunt, both taking 3 wickets each along with Amelia Kerr’s 2 wickets.
The loss hurt Gujarat Giants‘ ambition of reaching the top three and will also impact their chances of qualifying further to the playoffs.
