Jon Lewis RCB, WPL 2023: UP Warriorz Head Coach Jon Lewis claims RCB have improved from their poor start of the tournament and also talked about their aim of winning the remaining matches to qualify for the playoffs.

Bottom-placed RCB will take on UP Warriorz in the 13th matchday of WPL on Wednesday at the DY Patil Stadium. The Warriorz needs to win all of their matches to qualify for the playoffs, whereas RCB’s qualification to the playoffs depends on Gujarat Giants and UP Warriorz’s results in the upcoming matches.

The last time RCB and Warriorz met, the result went in favor of Alyssa Healy’s team as they displayed a dominant performance over Smriti Mandhana-led girls. In their previous meet, RCB posted a small target of just 139 runs which was easily chased down by Warriorz in the 14th over.

Warriorz’s skipper Alyssa Healy‘s performance will be the one to look out for as the batter scored an unbeaten 96 off just 47 deliveries with 18 fours and 1 six in their last meeting at the Brabourne Stadium on 10th March.

‘RCB have improved in the last couple of games’ says UP Warrioz Coach Jon Lewis ahead of the match

The UP Warriorz have faced a defeat against Mumbai Indians, but have grown by leaps and bounds, and are eyeing a spot in the playoffs. Their main aim is to win the remaining matches.

“In the previous game, we performed admirably. Considering the participation of all the teams, including Royal Challengers Bangalore, we can become a dominant force if we manage to increase the pressure on the top order with our bowling and take more wickets during the powerplay,” said Jon Lewis, the Head Coach of UP Warriorz.

“It has been observed that early wickets can alter the game’s course with almost every team we have encountered so far. I am pleased with the current state of our team. Our first aim is to win all the games in the second half of the tournament and qualify for the playoffs.”

“Over the past few games, RCB has shown noticeable improvement, boasting a lineup of highly skilled cricketers, including some exceptional foreign players and promising domestic talents. Thus, they pose a significant threat. It’s crucial that we approach them with utmost seriousness and ensure that we are adequately prepared.” He further said.

“We develop individualized strategies for each player, intending to match them up in the games. However, circumstances can change during the game, making it challenging to execute our plans. In such cases, we rely on the captain’s judgment on the field to make the right decisions at the right time. Trust in the captain is essential.” Jon Lewis said.
