India’s wicketkeeper-batsman Rishabh Pant was last seen in action during the two-match Test series against the Bangladesh national cricket team recently.
Rishabh Pant scored 45 off 44 balls in the first innings of the first Test in Chattogram. Overall, he struck six fours and two sixes to his name. On the other hand, Rishabh Pant scored 93 in the first innings of the second Test in Dhaka.
Rishabh Pant struck as many as seven fours and five hits over the fence. Later on, the BCCI named the white-ball squads for the upcoming home series against Sri Lanka. Team India will be playing three Twenty20 Internationals and three One Day Internationals at home against the Sri Lankan national cricket team.
Surprisingly, Rishabh Pant was not named in either of the squad by the BCCI. Recently, Rishabh Pant met with an unexpected accident while travelling to his hometown, Roorkee. The southpaw was driving all alone in his Mercedes car from Delhi to Uttarakhand early morning. As it turned out, he accidentally rammed into the divider linings and got severely injured.

Fortunately, he is out of danger as he was admitted to a nearby local hospital. He is getting the necessary treatment from the surgeons.
The wicketkeeper sustained injuries on his left eye and forehead. Besides that, there was a ligament tear on his knee as well. The wicketkeeper-batsman will be out of cricketing action for quite a while. He needs appropriate time and rest for recovery.
Meanwhile, the former national selector by the name of Saba Karim has now named an apt replacement for Rishabh Pant for the four-match Test series against Australia.
For the unversed, Team India will invite Australia for the four-match Test series and the three-match ODI series. Saba Karim reckons that KS Bharat is indeed a good option to succeed Rishabh Pant in the home red-ball series against the Aussies.
Besides that, he echoed that Ishan Kishan is an ideal replacement for Rishabh Pant. “I agree that KS Bharat is being groomed for the Test keeping role. But with all due respect to him, I feel Ishan Kishan is more suitable as an ideal replacement for Pant, considering the kind of role that Pant was playing in the Test team. He is playing the Ranji Trophy and has scored a hundred at a quick pace,” said Saba on India News.
“We were winning Tests due to Pant’s presence because not only was he playing match-winning knocks, but was doing them at a quick pace. This was transferring pressure on the opposition, while also giving bowlers time to take 20 wickets. Kishan hasn’t played red-ball cricket for India A, but he has been playing domestic red-ball cricket for a few years,” he added.
