Ronaldo has now revealed he plans to keep playing for Portugal beyond the end of the 2022 World Cup. He said he wants to be part of the EURO 2024 as well, insisting his ‘road is not over yet.

Ronaldo also stressed that he still feels motivated and that his ambitions are still high.

It has been a long road, but I would like to take the opportunity to say that my road is not over yet. I feel motivated, my ambition is high. I am in the Selection with a lot of young players and I want to be part of this World Cup and 2024 European as well, I assume now,” Ronaldo said.

CR7’s on-field struggles in the 22/23 season

Ronaldo’s statement comes amid his on-field struggles at Manchester United this season. The Portuguese superstar has not had the greatest of starts to the 22/23 season.

He has featured in all eight matches Man Utd have played so far this season, but has only scored one goal for the club. Ronaldo had gone goalless in his first seven matches for Man Utd this season before ending the goal drought in the eighth game.

Ronaldo, despite featuring in eight matches, has only made it to the starting XI thrice, with the rest being appearances off the bench. One of Ronaldo’s three starts came in Premier League and the other two in Europa League.

Meanwhile, Ronaldo was linked with a move away from Man Utd in the summer transfer window. Reports said the Portuguese had asked Man Utd to allow him to leave should they receive a suitable offer.
