Cristiano Ronaldo News: Juventus CEO Reacts to Man Utd Struggles

Cristiano Ronaldo news: Juventus CEO Maurizio Arrivabene has reacted to the Portuguese striker’s struggles at Man Utd.

Ronaldo left Juventus after three seasons at the club to join Man Utd in the 2021 summer transfer window. His return to Man Utd, the club that first propelled him to superstardom, has not gone to plan.

Man Utd finished sixth in the league last season with their worst point tally in the Premier League era. The Red Devils also failed to qualify for the Champions League due to their sixth-place finish.

Ronaldo scored 24 goals for Man Utd last season, with 18 of those in the Premier League and the rest in the Champions League.

Arrivabene has now insisted Ronaldo’s struggles at Man Utd are not Juventus’ problems.

“We separated ways at Juventus with mutual respect,” Arrivabene told DAZN. “We are sorry for what’s happened to him in Manchester this year, but it’s not our problem.”

Ronaldo also failed to secure a move away from Man Utd in the summer. The Portuguese superstar had reportedly told Man Utd to allow him to leave should they receive a suitable offer.

But interest in the Portuguese superstar was few and far between, while Man Utd insisted he was not for sale.

He has also not had the best of starts to the 22/23 season. Despite featuring in all six of Man Utd’s Premier League games this season, he has not yet scored a goal.

He has also only made it to the starting XI just once. That came in Man Utd’s 4-0 defeat at the hands of Brentford – their second match of the season.

Meanwhile, Man Utd have bounced back from their dreadful start to the season. The Red Devils had suffered defeats in their first two matches of the season and sat 20th in the table.

Man Utd have won all four games they have played since – the latest a 3-1 win over Arsenal. Their first win of the season came against bitter rivals Liverpool, who they defeated 2-1 at Old Trafford.

Man Utd also secured 1-0 wins over both Southampton and Leicester City in their subsequent fixtures. They currently sit fifth in the points table with 12 points from six matches. They are just three points short of league leaders Arsenal.
