Bayern Munich’s legend Giovane Elber claims that Cristiano Ronaldo is not stupid to want to bring in the Bundesliga star to Real Madrid.
To say that Karim Benzema has struggled this season for Real Madrid would be an absolute understatement. The Frenchman has struggled in front of goal this season, scoring only four of his 22 La Liga appearances for Real Madrid. The last time the 30-year-old played this badly was his first season for Real Madrid when he finished the 2009/10 season with 8 goals, but since then Benzema has managed to hit double figures every season, until now.
That’s exactly why both Florentino Perez and manager Zinedine Zidane have created a shortlist of replacements to replace the Frenchman. The list includes the likes of Inter Milan’s Mauro Icardi, Tottenham’s Harry Kane and of-course the forever linked Bayern Munich’s Robert Lewandowski. The Polish international has been in incredible form for the Bavarians and already has 23 goals so far and has made only 24 appearances in the Bundesliga.
The 28-year-old’s remarkable prowess in front of goal despite a slow start to the Bundesliga campaign has been the state of affairs especially with Real Madrid looking to replace Frenchman Karim Benzema. This has led Giovane Elber, a Bayern Munich legend and once Bayern’s highest-scoring foreign player before Lewandowski took over the record, to add fuel to the transfer fire.
In an interview with AZ, the 45-year-old went on to say, “This shows that Cristiano Ronaldo is not stupid. Everyone wants to have such a player in their team. If they have the opportunity to get Lewandowski away from Bayern, they will do their best to do it. But Bayern have been warned and Lewandowski feels very settled with his family in Munich. He knows that he has everything at Bayern. I hope and expect that he stays with us for a long time.”

Elber further added talking about the Polish international and his goalscoring prowess, “He has incredible skills and he shows them in every game. You could say that it’s easy to score goals at Bayern, because the other teams are not good enough, but you still have to deliver. He does that, and also in the Champions League.”
While Robert Lewandowski would be a brilliant addition to Real Madrid but, a better choice would be either Mauro Icardi or Harry Kane. The Polish international is a class act but also happens to be 29 years old, which means that Real Madrid would only get maybe four odd seasons of brilliant performances from the Pole.
