Cristiano Ronaldo has made a shocking request to manager Zinedine Zidane just hours before the Champions League clash against PSG.
With Real Madrid set to take on PSG in the Champions League on Wednesday night, the Los Blancos need to be at their very best to be able to beat a star-studded Parisian attack. The Ligue 1 club who spent obscene amounts of money on the likes of Neymar and even former Monaco star Kylian Mbappe have one of the best front lines in the world right now.
Meanwhile, their opponents Real Madrid have been struggling in the league and while they do sit third behind Atletico Madrid and Barcelona, they are still a massive 16 points behind league leaders Barcelona. Thus if manager Zinedine Zidane and even superstar Cristiano Ronaldo want to be able to win even one trophy this season they need to put their best squad forward.
Which according to reports from Spanish news outlet Dario Gol, is why the 33-year-old Portuguese star wants star midfielder Isco dropped from the team. The Spaniard who has been under serious scrutiny over the last few weeks, with regards to his performances and even rumors surrounding his future.
According to reports from AS, the 2012 Golden Boy winner has been deemed surplus to requirements especially after his performances off late. The report further adds that if Zinedine Zidane is still the Real Madrid boss come to the end of the current season, his first act will be selling the 25-year-old.
That among many other reasons is why the five-time Ballon d’Or winner wants Isco dropped and instead he wants Zidane to bring in either Marco Asensio or Lucas Vasquez. However, given that the Los Blancos midfield is Luka Modric, Toni Kroos and Casemiro, there is a chance Isco could play with reports that the Brazilian defensive midfielder could be in doubt with an injury.
Whether or not what Cristiano Ronaldo has said is true, Real Madrid will need everyone to make sure they can beat PSG. Isco is a brilliant player and a creator in chief for the Santiago Bernabeu side and thus that makes him a very valuable asset. However, if Ronaldo does hold sway over team sheet decisions, then things will most certainly not go Isco’s way.
