Chennai Super Kings (CSK) fails to play with the motto of ‘experience over youth’ in this IPL season and decided to make some tough calls.
Chennai Super Kings (CSK) during this season failed to perform similarly to every season. They didn’t follow the same form as previous seasons. Hence, players like MS Dhoni, Kedar Jadhav etc.facing huge criticism from the cricket world.
This team included all the old age and most experienced players in the squad. Skipper MS Dhoni always tries to use the motto of ‘experience over youth’ while playing in the IPL. Such strategy worked for 2018, 2019 season but failed in this season.
However, Chennai Super Kings (CSK) have an average age of over 31 years old for the whole squad. Hence, back-to-back lack of performances by these players might force management to take harsh decisions about them.
As they had won only 3 matches out of 10 in this 13th edition of the IPL. Therefore, hopes of qualifying for playoffs come to an end. CSK might qualify to playoffs in this season but all it depends on the other franchise and own gameplay.
So to qualify for the playoffs Chennai Super Kings (CSK) needs to win the rest of the four matches and depend on the other franchise’s results. The reason behind failing of CSK’s performance is Suresh Raina’s absence in the squad. Because middle-order batters are consistently failing to perform.
One of the sources from CSK said, “See as Fleming has said, a lot of chinks in the armour have been exposed this time. Some tough calls surely will be taken. The only issue is there is little time between now and the next edition.”
This CSK players might not be part of next season.
1. Kedar Jadhav:
Chennai Super Kings (CSK) might send 35 years old player Kedar Jadhav out of the squad for the IPL 2021. However, he only scored 60 runs in 8 matches for CSK in this season which was not impressive to anyone. Hence CSK might show him the exit doors.
Moreover, none of the other teams will also like to have him for the next season. Because he had flopped in this season and also put fans’ expectations into the air and became the most targeted player from the CSK to criticize by the fans.
2. Piyush Chawla:
Former Indian leggy is also part of the CSK’s squad in this IPL. He was impressive in some of the matches but not able to use his experience and help CSK to achieve triumph over others in the starting matches of IPL 2020.
3. Imran Tahir:
Another player from the CSK spin department might be on the big list of the next year. As the South African spinner didn’t feature by MS Dhoni in the single match of IPL 2020. Hence, it looks like chances of Imran Tahir’s exit had increased for the next season.
4. Shane Watson:
Chennai Super Kings (CSK) opener from the last two season disappointed fans during the starting games of IPL 2020. He almost performed well when MS Dhoni shift him at one down. As a result, he scored two half-centuries. Despite this, he might lose his contract with CSK for the next season.
Moreover, other CSK players like Ambati Rayudu and Faf du Plessis played very well and helped CSK to perform little but better. But these players might be dropped for the next season to rebuild the squad properly for the next season. Henceforth, we will come to know about this after the finish of the season during the auction of 2021 IPL season.
