The former Chelsea duo has urged Shanghai SIPG playmaker, Oscar to return to England and play with Arsenal.
David Luiz and Willian made a fine Brazilian partnership with Oscar at the Stamford Bridge club. While Luiz anchored the defense, Willian and Oscar maintain their duties on the frontline. Chelsea flourished with them in their squad.
Oscar then got a lucrative contract from the Chinese Superleague at the time when China was able to lure some big stars from Europe in their prime. He joined the league in a £60 million move in January 2016. The move which he claimed he made for personal reasons.
The Internacional talent also made significant contributions to the Brazilian national team. Oscar admitted to returning to Europe someday with now his friends tempting him to join Arsenal. But it is off the cards.
Oscar’s verdict on the matter
The 29-year-old opened up on his teammate phoning him to make the move. ”They called me, they had to call me. Because we have good communication,’ Oscar told Fox Sports. ‘Sometimes I talk to them. They said, ‘come to Arsenal, come here’. But for me it’s a little more difficult. I have a contract with Shanghai, it’s a little more difficult to leave.”
He has a contract that run until 2024.By then he will be 33. Even if he continues, he won’t hit the level expected for his age will take the zeal out of him. Plus, he hasn’t faced the type of competitiveness enjoyed by the top five European leagues. SIPG is also very dominant in their league. But in football, anything can happen
Oscar said he’s happy with Willian joining in the summer. He remarked that Willian’s friendship is strong with Luiz, ” Willian had finished the contract. ‘I was happy that they got together again. And happy that Willian is happy. The most important thing is to be happy, regardless of the place. So I hope they are happy there.“
Oscar on his return to Europe
The question that mostly circulates around Oscar whether he will return to Europe someday. His latest reply, “I’ve had approaches, I’ve had approaches from some clubs to go back. But the situation is difficult for me to return, it’s a little more complicated for me to get out of here.”
“So I hope to fulfill my contract here calmly and then yes I think about going back to Europe. really want to go back to Europe. Not now. At the moment I’m well here in China, I still have my contract here, which I hope to fulfill.”
Next, the Brazilian admitted that he will turn out to Chelsea if such an opportunity arrives at him. Rather than moving to their arch-rivals, he will make a homecoming to the Blues if not a player but in technical roles, if he wants to.
“Of course the first club I’d choose if I could go back to Europe is Chelsea, for sure, which is the club that I built a very beautiful history with. ‘And when I was a child I watched the Italian league a lot because there were many Brazilians there. ‘So there are some teams from Italy that I like a lot, like Inter, AC Milan. So I would think about going to the Italian league if I return one”, he concluded.
Twelfth Man opinion
Oscar still has the talent for him to play in a major stage but he won’t enjoy time on the pitch over the age of 30. He said he won’t be moving now so it is applicable he ends his career in China rather turning for Europe.
For Arsenal, Luiz, Willian, and Oscar are not going to feature in the same team. Arteta already has enough options in his hand on the forward line with key contributors to the team. Aubameyang’s contract extension is a great relief to the club. So, Oscar won’t fit in.
