Ousmane Dembele on the move!? Names Premier League club as his preferred destination

Barcelona are open to let Ousmane Dembele leave on loan in the summer and the Frenchman has named his preferred destination

It is safe to say that Dembele’s season has not gone the way it was supposed to. The Frenchman’s signing in the summer was accompanied with much fanfare with Barcelona spending a princely sum of £96 to acquire his signatures, with possible add-ons only increasing the scale of the deal. However, he has been blighted by injuries that have seen him miss a major chunk of the season. Barcelona chiefs are now looking for ways to spark the youngster’s flailing career. Departure from Camp Nou on a loan-deal has emerged as a probable option.

El Gol Digital is reporting that Dembele is interested in a move to the Stamford Bridge. However, the two clubs are yet to negotiate a deal for the 20-year-old. The report further goes on to claim that Barca is demanding around €15 million as a loan fee.

Dembele started for Barcelona in last night’s demolition of Girona but has not been able to command a regular spot in the starting eleven this season. Though, his performance against Catalan minnows did impress Ernesto Valverde. Post-match, the Barca boss said, “Dembele has a more extreme profile, he brings more depth but he has had more problems with injuries and skipped that period of adaptation. That’s why he is still getting used to the team.”

Barcelona will face Chelsea in 17 days time at the Camp Nou. The first leg at Stamford Bridge ended 1-1 with Barca holding a slight edge before the return fixture.

Author’s Take

Dembele is going nowhere. Despite his lacklustre first season adding fuel to rumours linking him with an early exit, Barca would be mad to let a player leave on whom they made such a huge punt. Though this particular rumour linked him with just a loan deal, Barca management would rather see him develop under the watchful eyes of head coach Valverde.
