Dortmund rule out stars exit as United rumours explode

Dortmund’s sporting director Michael Zorc has noted that Jadon Sancho will not leave the club this summer, even amid rumoured interest from the Red Devils

Sancho has taken to the Bundesliga like a duck to water since his move from Manchester City, notching nine goals and 15 assists this term, and Manchester United are reportedly even willing to make a record bid for the England international. Reports add that the Red Devils are ready to table more than £100 million for the teenager, which would be a record for an Englishman, overtaking the £50m fee that City paid for Kyle Walker in 2017.

United have been on the lookout for a quality player on the right flank, and are of the opinion that Sancho is their man, someone who could fill that role for at least a decade. However, it appears that Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s side will have to wait to land the 18-year-old, as Dortmund have no intention of selling one of their most prized assets yet.

When queried about rumours about Sancho’s future, Dortmund sporting director Zorc said: “I’m a far cry from putting a price tag on Jadon. But I’m saying that even the biggest clubs in the world can hardly afford his transfer at the moment. Jadon will play for Borussia Dortmund next season. We are definitely planning with him. I’m also aware that the efforts — especially of the English clubs — to sign him will be stronger and stronger if he continues to play like that. He will certainly not play in Dortmund until the end of his career. That is also part of the truth. But for the summer, I’m pretty sure the players we want to keep will stay with us.”

Ex-United winger Andrei Kanchelskis has also weighed in with his opinion, stating that the former Manchester City starlet would be the ideal fit for his former club. “He’s young and English which is the perfect mould for United,” Kanchelskis told Bwin“It’s crazy to think that a player who was let go for so cheap can suddenly come back to the Premier League for £90 million, but I guess United did something similar with Pogba from Juventus.”

“Sancho has really shown what he is capable of at Dortmund and it’s been great to see a teenager go abroad and become a first team regular for a potential title winning team. It makes you wonder how Man City didn’t see the talent or weren’t willing to give him the chance. Manchester United would love to have the chance of taking a City player and making him a great at Old Trafford.”

Author’s take

Sancho would be an amazing addition to the United roster, and is exactly what the team needs right now on the right and side, or either flank for that matter. He has showed that he can survive under the glaring lights at a European heavyweight, and it is just a matter of the Red Devils ironing out the details in order to sign him up!
