Mikel Arteta wants to add reinforcements but will have to offload first. Arsenal’ Edu Gaspar is looking to make some additions to their team in the January window. This hasn’t been the best of Premier League seasons for Arsenal under Mikel Arteta. The club has identified key areas where they need to make improvements.
However, Mikel Arteta hasn’t been given much room in terms of the transfer budget. Arsenal were active in the summer window too as they brought in the likes of Thomas Partey, Gabriel Magalhaes, Willian, and Alex Runarsson.
Arsenal fans were hoping for some big signings in the January window. But Arsenal’s $20 million budget has it even more difficult for Mikel Arteta to recruit big names for the club.
Arsenal have already started the offloading process. So far 4 players have already left the club however there is no substantial revenue for any of the deals. The only benefit might be more cap in terms of wages.
The Gunners still have a lot of players who can be sold. Mustafi too wants to leave when his contract expires in June. He was offered a contract which he apparently turned down.
If a buyer can be found before that Arsenal could receive around $10.8 million per his value on transfermarkt. Arsenal could raise a huge amount if all these deals could go their way
Edu could raise up to $130 million for Arteta:
Mikel Arteta and Edu have identified key areas where the team needs improvement. This was Edu’s statement as per football.london, “It’s quite clear what we need,” “We need a player with creativity in the middle, we don’t have that in the squad right now.”
While Arteta believes a back keeper and a left-back is necessary to add depth to the team. But before making any move the club will have to sell players first. Runarsson is likely to leave on loan but Arsenal could opt to sell him. His transfer value is around $1.8 million.
Calum Chambers isn’t getting a run in the team and he could fetch around $13.5 million for Arsenal. But these are considerably small deals for the club. Nicolas Pepe could be the big one for Arsenal. If the move for Odegaard comes through he can come in and replace Pepe.
Arsenal had to pay a huge amount of $72m for Pepe. However, considering the dip in his form and the number of games he has played his value has taken a considerable dip and is currently at $36 million.
Eddie Nketiah (£18m), Joe Willock (£14.4m), and Reiss Nelson (£11.25m) are also on the watch list. Lucas Torreira is on loan at Atletico Madrid but he could be recalled as Valencia is showing interest in the player. He could fetch £25.2m for the Gunners.
All in all the Gunners have a lot of options and if all goes right they raise up to $130 million in the January window. But this is an ideal situation for Arsenal where we are assuming everything will go perfectly, which in reality often doesn’t happen.
