ENG VS IND: The fifth Test between Team India and England is now taking place at Edgbaston in Birmingham due to a schedule change. The team dropped wickets at regular intervals after losing the toss.
On just 98 runs scored, the batsmen Shubman Gill, Cheteshwar Pujara, Hanuma Vihari, Virat Kohli, and Shreyas Iyer England get their wicket. Shreyas Iyer and wicketkeeper-batter Rishabh Pant remained at the crease after Virat Kohli’s dismissal.
And both batsmen began to play strokes to re-apply pressure to the English bowlers. Shreyas Iyer was the more aggressive of the two batters, scoring 15 runs in just 10 pitches while hitting three nice boundaries.
ENG VS IND: After Getting Good Start He Threw His Wicket
The English bowlers, especially James Anderson and Matty Potts. That shifted their strategy to short-pitched deliveries after being penalized by Iyer for a few boundaries. This quickly caused issues for the hitter. After facing a short-length delivery from veteran Anderson in the 26th over, Shreyas found himself in trouble.
He was able to avoid that delivery, though. Shreyas Iyer reached the 15-run mark in the following over by driving Potts past the cover area and collecting a boundary. But he was dismissed in the following over as well. This time by Anderson’s short-length delivery.
As Iyer attempted to flick the ball towards fine-leg, the senior bowler produced a short delivery that was angled towards his ribs. However, Iyer was outpaced by the pace and was only able to manage a nice tickle which was well caught by wicketkeeper-batter Sam Billings.
It should be observed that Shreyas Iyer struggles with short-pitched deliveries. And doesn’t appear at ease when moving at an express pace. The right-handed batter has previously acknowledged that he needs to focus more on his attitude than his mechanics while confronting the short ball.
Shreyas Iyer appeared troubled in a recent home T20I series against South Africa’s pace bowling lineup as well. His problems persisted in the Test match against England as well.

They don’t seem to be in great shape while England is playing quite well. Sam Billings continued to make a fantastic catch on the first day. Sam Billings executed a great dive to complete the catch after Shreyas Iyer stole it.
