During the ongoing thirteenth edition of the Indian Premier League, KKR captain Eoin Morgan hit the headlines for wearing two caps. Kolkata Knight Riders captain was spotted wearing two caps during the match against Virat Kohli-led Royal Challengers Bangalore.
Just two weeks ago, Dinesh Karthik gave up his captaincy duties in order to focus on his batting. England international Eoin Morgan who took charge as KKR captain wore two caps while playing against RCB in Wednesday’s encounter.
Morgan’s name started trending on Twitter for the same reason. The social media users were confused after seeing Morgan with two caps. Some of the users had doubts in mind as they took to their respective Twitter handles to ask questions.
Due to the coronavirus epidemic, ICC had to introduce certain rules. The new rule by ICC prevents on-field umpires from holding player’s things which they were permitted to do earlier. As per the rules, the player should not hand over their things to the umpire.
ICC’s new rule
The ICC came up with new rules and regulations in the ongoing coronavirus pandemic. The rules are framed in such a way that everyone on the field is safe and secure.
As per the rules, cricketers and on-field umpires should follow social distancing on the field.
This means that the player cannot give his belongings to the umpire or teammates. “Players and umpires should maintain social distancing on the cricket field and that includes no handing over of player items (cap, towels, sunglasses, jumpers) to the umpire or teammates.
Consider adopting a process that will assist the bowler in managing his/her items. Umpires may also be encouraged to use gloves when handling the ball,” the ICC new rule states.
