The Premier League has already seen 12 players taking their goal tally in the double digits in the ongoing season. But who amongst them is in the top five?
With the likes of Harry Kane, Sergio Aguero and of course, Mo Salah in their ranks, EPL definitely has some of the finest goal scorers in the world football right now. But the big guns are not the only ones to shine in front of the goal. Let us take a look at top five strikers in the Premier League:
5. Marcus Rashford:
Just like Paul Pogba in midfield and Victor Lindelof in defence, Marcus Rashford makes it to the top 5 due to his performances under OGS. The Englishman has scored 6 goals under the new manager and his performances were rightly recognized as he won the Player of the Month award for January. Rashford scored United’s solitary goal against Leicester City as the Red Devils finally moved up in the 5th spot in the Premier League table.
4. Harry Kane:
With 14 goals and 4 assists in the League, Harry Kane looked all set to fight for the Golden Boot once again. And most importantly, the Englishman was ready to fight for his first trophy at the club. But Kane injured his ankle against Manchester United and all those hopes were gone. The 25-year old will be out until March but his performances in the first half of the season keep him in the fourth spot for now.
3. Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang:
Given the fact that Aubameyang is the second top scorer in the league, the Gabon international should be a little higher in the list. But after an exceptional December, the Arsenal forward has been in a disappointing from in January. He had another week of ups and downs as he both scored and assisted against Cardiff City before a dismal display against Manchester United. The Arsenal No. 17 now has 15 goals and 4 assists in 25 league appearances.
2. Sergio Aguero:
New competition in the league – No problem. New competition in the squad – No problem. The 30-year old Sergio Aguero does not care about his competition once he finds his groove. And the Argentine is on one hell of a run right now. With 6 goals in last 5 games, including a hat-trick against Arsenal, Aguero is inching closer to that first spot. The striker is also 3rd in the race for the Golden Boot with 14 goals. (And not to forget, 6 assists)
1. Mo Salah:
Yes, Mo Salah has scored 16 goals in the league, which has pretty much kept him at the top of this list for some time now. But the Egyptian couldn’t care less about this spot right now. Salah is obviously instrumental for Liverpool’s chances to win the league title and he has failed to deliver in the last two games where his lacklustre and goalless performances cost Liverpool 4 points. Klopp will be eager to see his main-man finding the back of the net once again to keep Liverpool ahead in the title race.
