The Instagram image of Lewis Hamilton’s nephew wearing a purple and pink suit and holding a pink wand with a heart on it has now been removed. He received harsh criticism for gender-sexistally characterizing his nephew.
On December 26, 2017, Lewis Hamilton apologized for his ‘unacceptable’ statement. He tweeted this to his 5.2 million followers. “I’m very heartbroken right now,” he remarked in the video he shared on Instagram. The youngster is the centre of attention as the camera zooms in.
Lewis Hamilton and his nephew discussed Hamilton’s desire for a dress for Christmas in the video.
The British man later removed the video and issued an apology through Twitter, writing:
“When I realized my statements were improper while playing with my nephew yesterday, I took down the post. I had no malicious intent and never intended to upset anyone. My nephew’s ability to express himself freely, as we all should, makes me happy.”
“My sincere apologies for my behaviour; I now see that it is absolutely unacceptable for anybody to marginalize or stereotype anyone, regardless of where they are from.“, Lewis Hamilton further tweeted.
