Following the completion of the registration procedure for the 2026 season, the FIA has officially confirmed the presence of six F1 engine manufacturers. The governing committee confirmed Honda’s return to F1 as an independent manufacturer with Audi in addition to the current four manufacturers.
“The FIA today, 3 February, confirms that six manufacturers have registered as Power Unit Suppliers for the FIA Formula One World Championship and beyond. F1 released a statement confirming the six manufacturers for the 2026 season and beyond. These include Red Bull Ford, Mercedes-AMG High-Performance Powertrains Ltd., Honda Racing Corporation, Ferrari S.p.A., Alpine Racing, and Mercedes-AMG.”
The current F1 engine suppliers are Alpine, Ferrari, Mercedes, and Red Bull (rebranded as Red Bull Ford for 2026 and beyond).
Although Audi now owns the Alfa Romeo Sauber team, it is still unknown with which team Honda will collaborate. Ford confirmed that Red Bull Powertrains would be rebadged as Red Bull Ford Powertrains on Friday (February 3), at the same time as the Red Bull RB19 launch in New York.

The six manufacturers will concentrate on creating a V6 hybrid engine that complies with the new engine standards and stays under the engine financial regulations, or engine cost cap, which will be in force for the 2026 season and beyond.
The 2026 F1 engine regulations, according to the FIA president, have attracted manufacturers to the sport
The influx of new manufacturers into Formula One, according to FIA president Mohammed Ben Sulayem, is proof that the new engine regulations will be in place for the 2026 season and beyond.
The 61-year-old FIA President applauded the 2026 rules and expressed excitement for a new era in the sport. In response to the six manufacturers’ confirmations for 2026, FIA President said:
“The strength of the championship and the strict technical regulations that have been painstakingly developed by the FIA in close cooperation with Formula 1 and the Power Unit manufacturers are attested to by the confirmation that there will be six Power Unit manufacturers competing in Formula 1 starting in 2026.”
The FIA has confirmed six engine manufacturers for the 2026 Formula 1 season and has begun the application procedure for new teams.
Only Andretti Global and its affiliation with Cadillac of General Motors have been officially acknowledged as new applicants. Both the FIA and Andretti acknowledged that their application was being handled and examined.
In order to get a seat on the grid, more teams and manufacturers are competing, according to Ben Sulayem and the FIA.
