Frederic Vasseur: Former Scuderia Ferrari driver Jean Alesi has named the individual who will be highly relied upon by new team principal Frederic Vasseur in the 2023 Formula One season.
At the beginning of the year, Frederic Vasseur took over for Mattia Binotto. He became the first non-Italian to lead the squad since Jean Todt in 2007.
Jean Alesi, who has a long history in motorsports, thinks Frederic Vasseur should have Laurent Mekies’ backing going into the 2018 season.
Jean Alesi started Autosprint in Italy, “I believe Vasseur must rely heavily on Laurent Mekies. Mekies has been at Ferrari for a long time, making him the perfect person to help Vasseur determine what needs to change and what, on the other hand, can be left alone since it has promise.”

Jean Alesi, who competed for the team in the early 1990s. He also cautioned Frederic Vasseur against trying to modify the Prancing Horse’s cultural identity.
“If you suggest that Ferrari should or will speak more and more French, I will instantly reject your suggestion. Italians are from Maranello. It is necessary to speak only Italian. I formerly raced for the Scuderia, where I had some of my career’s most memorable moments.”
Ferrari CEO Frederic Vasseur praising existing Formula One rules
The head of the Ferrari team, Frederic Vasseur, supports the existing F1 rules. The ground effect has returned to Formula 1 because of new technical restrictions that were implemented for the 2022 season.
Frederic Vasseur thinks the sport is progressing in the correct way. He remarked: “Each of these is moving in the direction of performance convergence. Even the fact that the engines are frozen indicates that F1 is moving toward a closer race for the title, and it is succeeding. In qualifying performance, teams were approximately 5% apart in 2017 and 2018, but today most teams are within 2%.”
Frederic Vasseur continued: “Five clubs in 2022 had performance margins of less than 1% between them. If F1 follows these rules for a time, the sport will be magnificent.”
After an “unwatchable” 2022 season, the 1995 Canadian Grand Prix champion is looking for better results from the squad this year.
“Let’s be honest, Ferrari was unwatchable last year on the tactical front,” Frederic Vasseur stated. There must be a change, or the squad will have no chance of survival.
