Ex-F1 driver Karun Chandhok believes that Red Bull should try their best to sign up Lando Norris for their team and secure their future.
Lando Norris is currently driving at McLaren and is tied to them in a multi-year contract that runs till the end of the 2025 season. He stepped into Formula 1 and debuted for McLaren in 2019 and since then has put on a very consistent performance for the British team.
Lando Norris is intent on fighting at the front of the field as soon as he can. McLaren have promised that by 2024 they will have no excuses to not build a car that can fight at the front because by then they would have the most up-to-date infrastructure.
Lando Norris achieved the only podium finish by a driver not in the top 3 teams during the 2022 season. He finished P3 in Imola, but McLaren could only achieve a P5 in the Constructor’s Championship. Norris claimed four podium finishes during the 2021 season.
Lando Norris spoke with Sky Sports F1 about the 2022 season and said, “From where we were in race one [Bahrain], I think we’ve done a good job, we recovered well.”
“If I think before the season, did we achieve in 2022 what we should have done as McLaren? Honestly, no. If we want to do well and we want to be champions at some point and we want to win races, we can’t be satisfied with where we have been this season.”
Karun Chandhok meanwhile advises Red Bull to pursue Lando Norris and secure his services. Their star driver Max Verstappen has his contract ending at the end of the 2028 season. After that, he is considering pursuing a career outside Formula 1.
The other two Drivers at Red Bull, Sergio Perez, and Daniel Ricciardo are both past 30. Therefore, Karun Chandhok feels that Red Bull should think about the future and secure the services of Lando Norris

While speaking at the F1 2022 review show of Sky Sports F1, Karun Chandhok said, “I think they should be going hard to try and buy Lando Norris,”
“Exactly, absolutely spot on,” said Sky Sports F1 commentator David Croft in response.
Another factor that should be taken into consideration is that Max Verstappen and Lando Norris are very good friends off the track. So that might help their relationship as teammates.
