The Mercedes team principal Toto Wolff made a suggestion regarding Lewis Hamilton’s contract with the team shortly after they celebrated his ten years with them. The 2023 Formula One season is just around the horizon.
Wolff’s remark to Auto Motor Und Sport may provide some supporters with some solace, but it will also cause some fans to lean forward in anticipation of learning the duration of the deal.
Lewis Hamilton will always have a seat on the team, according to Wolff, and he will be the first to be informed of any changes.
Despite losing to his comrade George Russell the season before, Lewis Hamilton reaffirmed his place on the squad by asserting that “nothing has to change” at the same time quoted Wolff.
“That is not how I see it at all. Lewis will always have a seat among us, as I stated very early on. We usually talk things through before making a choice, and Lewis would be the first to admit if he was becoming bored or felt inadequate.”
Additionally, he stated that the team will bargain with Lewis Hamilton in the same manner as in past campaigns: “In this regard, we want to carry on and we will undoubtedly continue to bargain. There is no evidence, in my opinion, that anything needs to change.”
There have been rumours that Lewis Hamilton has signed a new two-year deal with Mercedes
The most recent contract Lewis Hamilton has with Mercedes was signed in February 2021, just before the start of preseason practice. With Mercedes, Hamilton has had the most success and made history. He is also still highly competitive and might challenge the title in the future season.
This guarantees that he will sit with the squad for the following seasons as well, coupled with Wolff’s declaration.

At the same time, a rumour from the French publication Sportune said that Lewis Hamilton would shortly sign a new two-year contract extension with Mercedes and get a significant wage increase.
The transaction is anticipated to be for about €70 million, although nothing is official yet.
Lewis Hamilton has also frequently claimed that he will continue to compete for the team as long as he is a Formula 1 driver. Since the team is hoping for a successful 2023 season, Lewis Hamilton and George Russell may be the ones to help them get the points they require.
