At the Red Bull launch in New York City on February 3, Max Verstappen and Sergio Perez showed off their new car, the RB19. They are excited to drive it. Team CEO Christian Horner thought that the 2023 car was an improvement on the RB18 with a few changes to meet the new rules.
Horner told the crowd about the RB19 by saying, “Well, the rules are very stable, so it takes all the lessons from the RB18, which was our most successful car ever. So, there have been some small changes in aerodynamics that affect everyone on the team. The challenge is to find the best way to use these changes.”
Max Verstappen gave his first impressions of the car when it was unveiled. He said, “Well, I think our livery has been pretty much the same for a few years now, but I always think it looks cool.” It really shows the colours of Red Bull everywhere. But that has worked well for us, so why do you want to change it? We have a few more partners on the car and a few new partners as well, and that’s what it’s all about.”
Max Verstappen doesn’t think the livery needs to change because it has been the same for a long time. But he was glad to see that there were more new people in the car.
Horner, on the other hand, thinks that the RB19 is an improvement on the RB18, which was their most successful car so far.
This is because the aerodynamic changes are stable. The Briton thinks, though, that there are some differences, like more aerodynamic changes and new tires, because the rules for 2023 have changed.
Max Verstappen and Sergio Perez are looking forward to driving the RB19 in 2023
While the reigning champion is happy with how the car feels so far, his Mexican teammate hopes for a good shakedown and preseason preparation with the RB19.
Max Verstappen said that he drove the simulator version of the car and thought it was a good improvement on the RB18.
Perez thought that the long season with 23 calendars made it important to do well in the preseason to set up the rest of the year and move forward.
Max Verstappen said, “Only in the simulator”. When asked if Max Verstappen had driven the RB19 and what his first impression of it was. “After last year, you have a better idea of what you want from the car and how you want to make it better for this year. I can’t say much about it, but you do try to make it better all the time.”
Red Bull has had two seasons where they were the best team, with two driver titles and a builder’s title. It will be interesting to see if Max Verstappen and Red Bull can keep their title with the RB19.
