Fab Move for Manchester United – Is Fabinho All Set To Join The Red Devils?

Looks like Jose Mourinho is not done adding new signings to the already-strong Manchester United squad this season. Latest reports suggest that Fabinho could be on his way to Old Trafford soon. Recently, the talented footballer helped Monaco seal a Champions League qualification against Villarreal. The Brazilian netted a cracking goal in the play-off and after the victory, he is being strongly linked to Manchester United. Another reason why the internet is buzzing so much about his expected move, is because his wife took to Instagram and hinted at a move to England.

According to France Football, there are reports of a deal that will potentially take place between the club and the player, which would let Fabinho play for United.

Jose Mourinho has been eyeing Fabinho for quite some time now, and he would be the perfect choice to fill the right full-back at Manchester United, which is currently occupied by Antonio Valencia.

Manchester United, as a team, have been performing well, but that area alone is a concern for them since Valencia is only a converted winger.

Fabinho’s move to United could mean a good thing, as Mourinho and Fabinho go back to his Real Madrid days. After all, Mourinho was behind pursuing Fabinho to join Real Madrid even at that point – way back in 2012. Could he possibly do that this time again?

Carlo Ancelloti took over then, and sent Fabinho to Monaco on loan. Rafa Benitez made him move permanently, and Monaco were only happy to agree to that. And now, it does look like Monaco benefited from the move, as Fabinho is not only a strong defender, he also netted eight goals in 47 appearances last season.

Internationally, Fabinho has 4 Brazil caps, and played for the South American team for the last two Copa America tournaments.

As far as Manchester United’s squad goes, they do have a good squad and fared well with the likes of Eric Bailly, Henrikh Mkhitaryan, Paul Pogba and Zlatan Ibrahimovic in the transfer window. All four of them have significantly made positive changes to the team, and they are performing a lot better than last season. Even when he was manager at Chelsea, Mourinho brought in Fabregas and Diego Costa – and those additions made remarkable improvement to the squad which catapulted the Blues toward winning the same. It would be interesting to see if he can replicate something like that at Old Trafford.

Defensively, there are still certain things that Mourinho needs to work on. So far, Antonio Valencia, Eric Bailly, Daley Blind and Luke Shaw have comprised of his back four. Valencia and Shaw have worked on creating a sense of danger along the flanks, and Bailly’s focus and fast blocking skills has impressed everybody.

To elevate their squad further, purchasing a right-back and centre back would suffice greatly. Meanwhile, Southampton’s Euros winning captain Jose Fonte is also a target for the Red Devils, as far as central defence is concerned.

Whether the Fabinho deals materialises or not, is yet to be seen. However, one thing is for certain – Jose Mourinho is here to win it for Manchester United.
