FC Barcelona news: The Catalan outfit have reached an agreement with Nico González to extend his contract at the club until 2026. González’s previous contract with Barcelona was set to expire in 2024.
A new buyout clause has been added to his contract, and it has been set at €1b.
Barcelona also confirmed the 20-year-old will head to Valencia to spend the 22/23 season on loan at the Ches.
However, the loan deal to Valencia does not include an option to buy the player after his temporary spell at the club comes to a close.
FC Barcelona news: Who is Nico González?
González has been at Barcelona since he was 11, and the midfielder has risen through the youth ranks at the club.
He made his debut for the Barcelona B team in 2019. Two years later, he also made his senior team debut. On August 15, in Barcelona’s 21/22 La Liga season opener, González came on as a substitute to replace Sergio Busquets. Barca won that game against Real Sociedad 4-2.
González made 37 appearances for Barcelona last season, with 27 of those coming in La Liga. He scored two goals for the Catalan side last season, both in the La Liga. González also provided two assists for the club.
Who else has Valencia signed in the 2022 summer transfer window?
Valencia have made three signings in addition to Nico González. They have landed Samuel Lino on a loan deal from Atletico Madrid. The Brazilian winger had joined Atletico Madrid from Portuguese side Gil Vicente on a five-year contract earlier this summer transfer window.
Valencia have also signed Spanish forward Hugo Duro from Getafe. The 22-year-old attacker has signed a contract until 2026. Duro had spent the last season at Valencia on loan from Getafe, and had scored 10 goals in 36 appearances.
Samu Castillejo has also joined Valencia on a free transfer after his contract with AC Milan expired. The Spanish right-winger has signed a three-year contract at Valencia.
