During the 54th minute of the Portugal vs Uruguay game, Bruno Fernandes put an inviting cross into the box, which just sailed past Cristiano Ronaldo’s head into the back of the net. Cristiano Ronaldo burst into celebration claiming the goal, but Burno Fernandes’ name was later announced on the loudspeaker.

Speaking to the media, Bruno Fernandes said: “The feeling I had was that Cristiano touched the ball. I was passing the ball to him. But what matters is that we are going through to the next round after playing a very tough opponent.”

Bruno Fernandes and Cristiano Ronaldo were teammates at Manchester United. However, the Red Devils terminated his contract following his controversial interview earlier this month.
