Kevin de Bruyne Admits He Did Not Deserve MOTM Award in Win Over Canada

Kevin de Bruyne: The Belgian has admitted he did not deserve to win the Match of the Match award for his performance in Belgium’s 1-0 win over Canada in their 2022 World Cup opener.

Belgium kicked off its 2022 World Cup campaign by taking on Canada in a Group F fixture. Michy Batshuayi scored on the stroke of half time the only goal of the game as Belgium earned all three points from the fixture.

But Belgium were far from their best against a Canadian side who made 22 shots against the European heavyweights. Belgium made nine shots, while both sides had three shots on target.

De Bruyne was also far from his best, with the midfielder delivering a sub-par display against Canada. De Bruyne has certainly had better performances than the one put up against Canada. However, he was given the Man of the Match award for his performance against Canada.
