Turkish chef and food entertainer Nusret Gökçe aka Salt Bae was slammed by fans on the internet after he posted a photo on Instagram with the World Cup Trophy. It was the Sunday evening after Argentina’s victory over France when this image was clicked.
Salt bae was permitted to enter the ground after the penalty shootout. He was visibly celebrating with the Argentina players. It was Argentina’s third time winning the World Cup. It was a perfect conclusion to Lionel Messi’s World Cup career. Both teams were neck and neck till the end of the match with a score of 3-3. As a tie-breaker, a penalty shootout took place in which Argentina emerged as the winner of the game.
Before the Penalty shootout, Messi gave his team an early start as he went on to score the first goal of the match. Angel Di Maria joined Messi to have a pretty good hand over France. But France knows how to bounce back, and it was Kylian Mbappe who put France back into the game.
This took the match to extra time, where Messi scored his second goal of the game. However, Mbappe struck for the third time in the match, leading the game to a penalty shootout. La Albiceleste won the contest from here, owing to a one-sided penalty shootout of 4-2.
After the trophy was awarded, Salt Bae jumped into the ground and held the World Cup trophy even though it is against FIFA rules. He did not stop here. He went on to it into one of the Argentine player’s medals.
Salt Bae tried to grab Messi’s attention
The most discussed moment of the incident occurred when Salt Bae did not receive the expected welcome from Messi. Footage shows that the Turkish chef repeatedly tried grabbing Messi’s attention, placing his hand on his shoulder.
After many tries of getting away, Messi hesitantly shook Salt Bae’s hand, only to get pulled back by the chef for a talk.
Fans expressed their disappointment on the internet regarding this matter. Some of them questioned his allowance on the field, while some stated that only the champions should be allowed with the trophy. Fans also noticed Messi’s awkward reactions to Salt Bae’s desperate approach. Many people were unhappy with the chef’s behaviour involving players and the trophy.

Salt Bae isn’t the first personality to perform this kind of act. Back in 2014, Rihanna did a similar stunt and went on to touch the World Cup after Germany’s win. As per the reports, the singer not only held the trophy but also kissed the trophy.
