Senegal won the African Cup of Nations after beating Egypt on penalties earlier this year. The Teranga Tigers have qualified for the FIFA World Cup after beating the Pharaohs in qualifiers.
They are placed alongside hosts Qatar, the Netherlands, and Ecuador for the group stages of the FIFA World Cup 2022. The Lions of Teranga are the favourites to win the group. Coach Aliou Cissé has recently announced his 26-men squad for the tournament
Senegal’s squad is as follows:

Chelsea’s Edouard is one of the most talented goalkeepers of his generation. He is expected to keep glove for Senegal in Qatar
Defenders: Kalidou Koulibaly (Chelsea), Fode Ballo-Toure (AC Milan), Pape Abou Cisse (Olympiacos), Youssouf Sabaly (Real Betis), Ismail Jakobs (Monaco), Formose Mendy (Amiens), Abdou Diallo (RB Leipzig)
Kalidou Koulibalu has struggled to make the desired impact since joining Chelsea from Napoli this summer. However, he is a talented defender who will play a key role for Senegal in Qatar.
Midfielders: Idrissa Gueye (Everton), Nampalys Mendy (Leicester City), Cheikhou Kouyate (Nottingham Forest), Pathe Ciss (Rayo Vallecano), Krepin Diatta (Monaco), Pape Matar Sarr (Tottenham Hotspur), Moustapha Name (Pafos), Mamadou Loum (Reading) and Pape Gueye (Marseille).
Senegal have quite a few decent midfielders in their squad. Idrissa Gueye, Nampalys Mendy, and Cheikhou Kouyate are all match winners on their day.
Forwards: Nicolas Jackson (Villarreal), Boulaye Dia (Salernitana), Sadio Mane (Bayern Munich), Ismaila Sarr (Watford), Famara Diedhiou (Alanyaspor), Bamba Dieng (Marseille) and Iliman Ndiaye (Sheffield United).
Sadio Mane has been included in the Senegal squad despite his injury issues. His availability will have a massive impact on the Tigers’ chances of qualifying for the latter stages of the competition. Meanwhile, Ismaila Sarr and Iliman Ndiaye are also in impressive form for their respective clubs.

Sadio Mane – The Senegal international is among the best players in the world. He registered six goals and three assists in 14 Bundesliga games for Bayern Munich this season.
Kalidou Koulibaly – TheChelsea defender has represented Senegal 64 times since making his debut in 2015. He will captain the Teranga Tigers during the 2022 FIFA World Cup.
Iliman Ndiaye – The 22-year-old attacking midfielder has been in fine form for Sheffield United this season. He has registered nine goals and two assists in 21 EFL Championship games.
