FIFA World Cup 2022: Mohamed Salah and Sadio Mane are clashing off once again, but this time in an attempt to go to Qatar. The two Liverpool forwards are pitted against each other in the World Cup playoffs and only the winner goes through!
Mohamed Salah and Sadio Mane are the best of friends courtesy of their partnership for Liverpool. But the two are going to give everything across the two legs to end the other’s dream of making it to the FIFA World Cup 2022 in Qatar.
Earlier in the year Egypt and Senegal faced off in the finals of the AFCON tournament. Here Sadio Mane got the better of Mohamed Salah as his winning penalty helped Senegal be crowned champions of Africa.
Hence Mohamed Salah would be looking to exact revenge over the two legs as he attempts to fulfill his own dream of going to the FIFA World Cup once again.
FIFA World Cup 2022: Egypt beat Senegal 1-0 in the first leg

The Egyptians have the advantage in the tie over the African Champions. An early goal in favour of Egypt helped the Pharaohs get to advantage at the Cairo International Stadium at home.
Senegal’s Saliou Cisse put the ball in the back of his own net in the 4th minute. But there was little the defender could do as Mohamed Salah’s strike hit the crossbar before hitting him and going in.
The Lions did try to come into the game after this. Senegal dominated the possession stats and had more shots on target. But in the end, Egypt managed to hold on to their slender lead.
Courtesy of their 1-0 win, the Pharaohs take a slender lead to the second leg against Senegal. The game will be played at the Stade Me Abdoulaye Wade in Senegal on 29th March 2022.
There were question marks surrounding Mohamed Salah’s fitness before the game as the Liverpool player had suffered a foot injury a few days ago. But it seems that the winger has managed to recover in time.
Sadio Mane was more involved in his team’s play compared to this Liverpool teammate. The Senegalese winger had a good opportunity late in the first half but he couldn’t hit the target

Only one of Mohamed Salah or Sadio Mane would be going through to the FIFA World Cup 2022. Hence the Liverpool fans would certainly be divided in opinion about their favourite stars.
The second leg of this enticing African FIFA World Cup qualifier will surely be watched intently all around the world. With both the team’s equally matched it is anyone’s guess as to who would go through.
