AC Milan are looking to reach an agreement with Rafael Leao over extending his stay at the Italian outfit as soon as possible, according to Fabrizio Romano.
Rafael Leao has established himself as a key player at AC Milan, and the Portuguese international is one of the most exciting young talents in Europe.
AC Milan wants to tie Rafael Leao down to a new contract at the club, which would extend his stay at the Serie A outfit beyond the expiry of his current deal. Rafael Leao’s current contract with AC Milan expires in 2024. That means he has less than two years left on his deal with the Italian behemoths.
Rafael Leao has been playing for AC Milan since the Italian outfit signed him from French side Lille in the summer of 2019. He signed a five-year contract upon joining Milan. He has not renewed his contract with Milan since.

Fabrizio Romano reports that AC Milan are pushing to get Rafael Leao’s contract extension done as soon as possible. The Italian journalist also reveals that a new round of talks with the player’s lawyer is expected in the next few days.
Fabrizio Romano also reports that AC Milan are now offering Leao a contract that would see the Portuguese international earn €7m-a-season net, including add-ons.
It remains to be seen what decision Rafael Leao takes with regard to his future. Should he decide not to renew his contract with Milan, the 23-year-old will not be short of suitors. In fact, he has already been linked with a number of top European clubs.
Since joining AC Milan, Leao has featured in 139 games across all competitions for the Italian side and has racked up 36 goals.
He has featured in 24 games across all competitions for Milan so far in the 22/23 season. He has been very impressive for Milan in the ongoing campaign, having amassed nine goals and nine assists.
Meanwhile, Milan currently sits second in the Serie A points table, only behind Napoli. Milan have 38 points from 18 matches and they trail table-toppers Napoli by nine points.
