Alan Shearer has named Arsenal as the favourites to win the Premier League title in the 22/23 season after the Gunners established an eight-point lead over second-placed Manchester City, who are also the defending league champions.
Arsenal had the opportunity to pull eight points clear of Manchester City when the Gunners took on Tottenham Hotspur in a Premier League fixture, and they made the most of it. Manchester City had fallen to a 2-1 defeat to Manchester City prior to Arsenal’s meeting with Tottenham Hotspur.
Arsenal cruised to a 2-0 win over Tottenham Hotspur to earn three points from the fixture and take their Premier League 22/23 season point tally to 47 points from 18 matches. Manchester City, who are second in the table, have 39 points from 18 matches, while third-placed Manchester United have 38 points from 18 matches.
Arsenal have only dropped seven points in the Premier League so far this season and have only suffered one defeat. Their only defeat in the league so far this season came at the hands of bitter rivals Manchester United.

Alan Shearer believes Arsenal are now the favourites to win the Premier League 22/23 title.
“Arsenal have to be favourites to win the Premier League now. It is very clear they are going to take some shifting from the top of the table,” Alan Shearer wrote in his BBC Sport column.
Alan Shearer added: “The only thing we don’t know about Mikel Arteta’s side yet is how they will cope with being frontrunners in the second half of the season. But it doesn’t look like their inexperience of being in a title race is fazing them at the moment.
“Their superb win over north London rivals Tottenham on Sunday was further proof of that.”
Meanwhile, Arsenal will take on Manchester United at the Emirates Stadium in a Premier League fixture in their next game. As aforementioned, the Red Devils are the only side to have inflicted defeat on Arsenal in the Premier League this season.
The Red Devils are in a rich vein of form now, having won all the matches they have played since club football action resumed after the end of the winter break.
A win over Arsenal could also help Man Utd reduce the gap between the Gunners to six points.
