Anthony Elanga has expressed frustration at the lack of game time at Manchester United

Anthony Elanga has fallen down the pecking order at Manchester United under Erik ten Hag and has seen his game time reduce in the ongoing 22/23 campaign. The 20-year-old has appeared in 24 games across all competitions for Manchester United so far this season but has only had 672 minutes of action in the current campaign. He has started in just seven games for Manchester United this season.

Anthony Elanga was linked with a move away from Manchester United in the January transfer window of 2023. However, a move never materialized and Elanga stayed at Manchester United.

Speaking to Afton Bladet, Anthony Elanga admitted his frustration at the lack of game time at Manchester United. He also confirmed talks were held with regards to a move away from the Red Devils in January, but stressed he can’t focus on that now.

It is frustrating,” Elanga told Afton Bladet. “You want to play. It is important. But if you don’t play, it’s not up to me but up to the coach.

I have spoken to Erik and it is private between the two of us. I know what he wants me to do and I can just keep training hard. When the opportunity comes, I just have to be ready to take it.

We have a lot of dialogue, not only about it but also about what is happening around. That’s the good thing about the club, we talk a lot and they help me a lot.

Anthony Elanga also said the best he can do is focus on the remainder of the season and then get to talk with Manchester United over his future at the club.

He said: “There was talk about it, but right now I’m focusing on United. We still have a big season ahead of us and need to finish it as well as possible.

That was in January, now I can’t focus on it. The best I can do is focus on the rest of the season, then I get to talk to the club. I love the club, but it’s important for me to play. I’m still young. We have spoken to the club and they know what is required and I know what is required.
