Arsenal Preparing to Launch an Offer for Sergej Milinkovic-Savic

Arsenal are interested in signing Lazio midfielder Sergej Milinkovic-Savic. The Serbia international is among the most in-demand midfielders in Europe.

Milinkovic-Savic has been a star performer for the Eagles since joining from Genk in the summer transfer window of 2015. He has played 314 games (in all competitions) for the Seria A outfit so far, recording 63 goals and 58 assists.

Milinkovic-Savic helped the Eagles win two SuperCoppa Italianas and one Coppa Italia. He won the 2018-19’s Serie A Midfielder of the Season and was also included in the Seria A Team of the Season twice.

The 27-year-old midfielder is also a key member of Serbia’s team. He has represented his country 39 times since making his debut in 2017.

According to Metro, Arsenal are preparing to launch an offer to sign Lazio midfielder Sergej Milinkovic-Savic.

The Seria A outfit previously rejected a €47 million bid from the Gunners. Lazio reportedly want a transfer fee of close to €100 million to sell their prized assets. Sergej Milinkovic-Savic’s contract with the Italian club will expire at the end of the next season. Several clubs are looking to sign him at a lesser price.

Milinkovic-Savic has been in spectacular form this season. The Serbia international has played 14 games in the Serie A this season, registering three goals and seven assists.

Meanwhile, Arsenal are reportedly in the transfer market to sign a new midfielder to partner Thomas Partey. Xherdan Xhaka has impressed in a more advancing position and Mikel Arteta wants him to take him to that role going forward. Apart from the Gunners, Liverpool and Manchester United are other Premier League clubs who have shown interest in signing Milenkovic-Savic.

Leicester City’s Youri Tielemans has been linked with a move to the Emirates Stadium in recent months. The Belgium international is in the final year of his contract at the King Power Stadium and could leave the Foxes on a cut-price deal in January.

Lazio captain Ciro Immobile compared Sergej Milinkovic-Savic to Kevin de Bruyne earlier this season. He said: “Trust me, Sergej Milinković-Savić is magic. He’s on the same level as Kevin de Bruyne.”
