Barcelona are interested in signing Bayern Munich defender Benjamin Pavard. The France international has also been linked with a move to Premier League giants Chelsea in recent weeks.
Benjamin Pavard joined the Bavarians from VFB Stuttgart in the summer window of 2019. He has played 140 games (in all competitions) for the Bundesliga outfit so far, registering nine goals and 11 assists. Pavard helped the Bavarians win three league titles and one UEFA Champions League trophy, among other honours.
The 26-year-old defender was also part of the French squad that won the FIFA World Cup in 2018. He also featured in FIFA World Cup 2022 for Les Blues.
Benjamin Pavard linked with Bayern Munich move
According to the Kicker(via Sportskeeda), Barcelona are said to be interested in signing Bayern Munich defender Benjamin Pavard. The Blaugrana believes that the France international could be the solution to their right-back problems.

Xavi used Ronald Araujo, Jules Kounde and Sergi Roberto as right-backs this season. However, none of them are full-backs by trade. The Catalan club are likely to add a new right-sided defender to their roster during the ongoing January transfer window.
Benjamin Pavard is reportedly looking to move away from Bayern Munich. His current contract at the Allianz Arena will expire at the end of the next season. Talks over a new deal have stalled in recent weeks, and Bayern Munich could look to cash in for him this month.
According to journalist Christian Falk, Chelsea are the favourites to secure the services of the France international this window. In his column for CaughtOffside, he wrote: “Pavard changed his agent – his new agent is Pini Zahavi – and if you see Pini’s friends, there are always two clubs.
One is Chelsea. When he’s talking about Chelsea he’s often talking in terms of ‘us’ and ‘we’, so he’s really close. He’s living in London, so that’s why there were many rumours in the past around Pavard and Chelsea.”
When will Barcelona play next?
Barcelona are currently sitting at the top of the La Liga table with 38 points from 15 games. They will next lock horns against Atletico Madrid in the league before locking horns against Real Betis in the semi-finals of the Supercopa de Espana on January 13.

Meanwhile, Benjamin Pavard’s Bayern Munich will next play against RB Salzburg in the Bundesliga next Friday.
