Youssoufa Moukoko has established himself as among the most promising attackers in Europe since breaking into Borussia Dortmund’s senior team during the 2020-21 season.

He is the youngest player in UEFA Champions League and Bundesliga history. Moukoko also became the youngest scorer in German top-flight history after finding the back of the net against Union Berlin during the 2020-21 season, aged 16 years and 28 days.

He was part of the BVB squad that won the DFB-Pokal during the 2020-21 season. Moukoko has played 59 games(in all competitions) for the German outfit so far, registering 11 goals and eight assists.

His performances at Signal Iduna Park also impressed Germany manager Hansi Flick, who included him in the DfB team’s squad for the FIFA World Cup 2022. But the Borussia Dortmund striker managed to play just one minute in Qatar.

According to Fabrizio Romano, Borussia Dortmund are keen to extend the contract of striker Youssoufa Moukoko.

Moukoko is in the final year of his contract at Signal Iduna Park. The BVB still have a chance to extend his deal as the player has a great relationship with manager Edin Terzic. However, the German club needs to act fast as the English and Spanish clubs are pushing to secure his services on a cut-price deal in January.

According to the Athletic, Chelsea are among the clubs who are monitoring his situation at Signal Iduna Park. The Blues are currently in the transfer market after Armando Broja suffered a knee injury during a friendly game earlier this month.

Speaking to the media in November, Moukoko provided an update on his future. He said: “I haven’t spoken to Hansi Flick about it at all yet. But then again, we’re not at BVB, we’re here with the national team at a World Cup. I feel very comfortable in Dortmund, I feel the confidence of the coach. You’ll find out in the end whether I decide to stay or not.”

Moukoko has played a starring role for the Dortmund outfit this season. He has registered six goals and four assists in 14 Bundesliga appearances this season. Borussia Dortmund are likely to go all out to convince him to sign a new deal.
