Real Madrid manager Carlo Ancelotti has revealed what he told Rodrygo after the Brazilian snubbed the Italian tactician after subbing him off during Los Blancos’ win over Villarreal in the Copa del Rey.
Real Madrid took on Villarreal in the Copa del Rey round-of-16 and pulled off a comeback win to progress to the next stage of the competition. The Spanish behemoths trailed Villarreal by two goals at half-time, but scored three goals in the second half to secure their progression to the quarter-finals.
Etienne Capoue sent Villarreal ahead in the fourth minute of the match before Samuel Chukwueze doubled their advantage in the 42nd minute. Real Madrid looked to be in danger but the defending La Liga champions pulled off a comeback.
Vinicius Jr reduced Real Madrid’s deficit to just one goal in the 57th minute of the match before Eder Militao scored the equalizer in the 69th minute. Dani Ceballos, on as a substitute, scored the winner for Real Madrid in the 86th minute.

“I told him not to forget” – Carlo Ancelotti reveals what he told Rodrygo after handshake snub
Prior to Vinicius Jr’s goal, Real Madrid manager Carlo Ancelotti replaced Rodyrgo, who had started for Los Blancos in the game, with Marco Asensio.
Rodrygo looked disappointed and appeared to snub Carlo Ancelotti, who he did not shake hands with. Carlo Ancelotti was then appeared to be giving a dressing down to the Brazilian attacker.
Speaking after the match, Carlo Ancelotti revealed what he told Rodrygo. The Italian explained that he told Rodyrgo not to forget to offer him a handshake.
“I told him not to forget to offer me his hand when he was substituted. I think he forgot,” Carlo Ancelotti said.
Meanwhile, Villarreal had beaten Real Madrid 2-1 in a La Liga fixture earlier this month. With the 3-2 win over Villarreal in the Copa del Rey, Real Madrid avenged defeat on the Yellow Submarine.
Real Madrid will take on Athletic Club in a La Liga fixture in their next game. The match between Real Madrid and Athletic Club kicks-off at 1:30am Indian Standard Time on January 23.
Real Madrid will be aiming to secure all three points from the fixture and maintain pressure on table-toppers Barcelona. Barcelona sit atop the La Liga points table with 41 points from 16 matches, while Real Madrid are second with 38 points from 16 matches.
