Chelsea wants £70m if they are to sell their player Mason Mount in the summer transfer window of 2023, according to a report in The Athletic.

Mason Mount has been linked with a move away from Chelsea in the upcoming summer transfer window. The Chelsea attacker has a contract that runs until 2024 with the Stamford Bridge outfit. That means he will enter the final of year of his contract with Chelsea next season.

The Blues have not yet managed to reach an agreement with Mason Mount over extending his contract at the club beyond 2024. There has not been much progress in talks over the contract situation.

Mason Mount has also attracted transfer interest from several clubs. Liverpool have been linked with a move for the England international. Manchester United and Tottenham Hotspur are also rumoured to be interested in acquiring the services of Mount. The Times recently reported that Bayern Munich are also considering making a move for Mount in the summer.

According to The Athletic, Chelsea wants £70m if they part ways with Mason Mount in the summer transfer window. The Blues, however, have not yet given up hope of reaching a contract extension agreement with Mount.

But if they fail to reach an extension agreement with Mount, the 24-year-old could leave the Stamford Bridge outfit on a free transfer in 2024. To avoid such a scenario, Chelsea might be forced into selling him in the summer transfer window of 2023.

However, it remains to be seen if clubs interested in Mount will be willing to splurge £70m on a player who has just one year left on his current contract with Chelsea.

Mason Mount, meanwhile, is a product of the Chelsea academy, and he has established himself as a key player for the Stamford Bridge outfit. He has made 192 appearances across all competitions for Chelsea and has racked up 33 goals.

He has appeared in 32 games for Chelsea so far this season and has three goals and six assists to his name. However, he has not quite lived up to the standards he had set in the previous season.

It remains to be seen how things unfold. Will Mason Mount still be a Chelsea player next season, or will he leave the west London outfit in the summer? Only time will tell.
