Manchester United have been dealt a huge blow as Christian Eriksen is set for an extended period on the sidelines after suffering an ankle injury during the Red Devils’ FA Cup fourth-round clash with Reading.
Christian Eriksen, who has been a key player for Manchester United, suffered an injury after being on the receiving end of a heavy tackle by Andy Carroll. The Danish midfielder was shortly replaced. He was later spotted leaving Old Trafford on crutches.
Manchester United have now learned the extent of the injury Christian Eriksen has suffered, and it is certainly not good news for Erik ten Hag and co.
The Old Trafford outfit have confirmed that initial assessments of the injury Christian Eriksen has sustained indicate the midfielder will likely be out of action until late April or early May.

Christian Eriksen is now likely to miss the majority of the remainder of the 22/23 season, with the midfielder likely to be out of action for three months.
However, Manchester United hope Christian Eriksen can return to action for the final stages of the ongoing campaign.
Manchester United signed Christian Eriksen on a free transfer in the 2022 summer transfer window after the midfielder’s contract with Brentford had expired. Eriksen joined Manchester United on a three-year contract that runs until 2025.
Christian Eriksen has featured in 31 games for Manchester United in the ongoing 22/23 campaign. The 30-year-old has made 19 appearances in the Premier League so far this season. He started in 18 of those 19 matches, which shows how regular a starter Eriksen has been for Manchester United.
In his 31 games for Man Utd so far this season, Christian Eriksen has also scored two goals and provided a respectable total of seven assists.
Meanwhile, Manchester United currently sits fourth in the Premier League points table. The Red Devils have 39 points from 20 matches in the English top flight so far this season. They are tied on points with third-placed Newcastle United and six points behind second-placed Manchester City.
Man Utd trail table-toppers Arsenal by 11 points, with the Gunners having 50 points from 19 matches. Erik ten Hag and co. also remain in contention for the FA Cup, EFL Cup, and Europa League titles.
