Chelsea are closing in on reaching an agreement to complete Christopher Nkunku’s transfer from RB Leipzig. The France international is currently among the most sought-after attackers in Europe.
Christopher Nkunku has established himself as among the most talented attackers in Europe since joining RB Leipzig from Paris Saint-Germain in the summer transfer window of 2019. He has played 159 games (in all competitions) for the Red Bulls so far, registering 64 goals and 51 assists.
Christopher Nkunku won the Ligue 1 Player of the Season accolade last season contributing 20 goals and 13 assists in 34 league games. He started the current season brilliantly as well having already scored 12 goals in 15 league appearances. so far.
The 25-year-old attacker was part of France World Cup squad. But his trip to Qatar was cut short after he suffered a knee injury during the training season before the tournament.

According to reliable journalist Fabrizio Romano, Chelsea are on the verge of reaching an agreement to complete Christopher Nkunku’s transfer. The Blues have an agreement in place with RB Leipzig for a transfer fee.
Christopher Nkunku has already completed his medicals with the Blues in September. He will reportedly sign a long-term contract with the London-outfit starting in June 2022.
Several other Premier League clubs, including Liverpool, also showed interest in signing the Frenchman. But Chelsea appears to have won the race for Christopher Nkunku’s transfer. Apart from Nkunku, Chelsea are also interested in signing Brazillian teenager Endrick Felipe from Palmeiras.
Laurent Blanc hails Christopher Nkunku
In an interview with L’Équipe last month, France manager Laurent Blanc heaps praise on RB Leipzig attacker Christopher Nkunku. He said: “I’ve worked with a lot of young players, and when I see Nkunku at this level, it makes me happy. This is a specific context, but the youngsters are talented.”
Christopher Nkunku was expected to play a key role for France during the FIFA World Cup. His injury is a massive blow for Les Blues as they look to defend their title.
When will Premier League resume?
The English Premier League is currently on hold due to the FIFA World Cup. It will return to action on Boxing day (December 26) just eight days after the FIFA World Cup final. Chelsea will resume their campaign against Bournemouth at Stamford Bridge on Dember 27.
