Cristiano Ronaldo is set to captain the Saudi All-Star XI that comprises players from Al-Nassr and Al-Hilal when they take on Paris Saint-Germain in a friendly match in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, on Thursday.
Cristiano Ronaldo has joined Saudi Arabian club Al-Nassr on a free transfer in a deal that would make him the highest-paid footballer in the world. The 37-year-old signed for the Saudi Arabian outfit after he parted ways with Manchester United.
Manchester United and Cristiano Ronaldo terminated his contract with the club by mutual consent in November last year following the explosive interview CR7 gave to Piers Morgan.
Cristiano Ronaldo re-joined Manchester United in the summer transfer window of 2021. The Portuguese superstar signed a two-year contract with the option for a further year. He had a contract with Man Utd until the end of the 22/23 season, but his stay at the Old Trafford outfit was cut short after the interview with Piers Morgan in which Ronaldo criticized Manchester United and club manager Erik ten Hag among many others.

Ronaldo’s debut for Al-Nassr has been delayed because of the two-game suspension the English FA issued to him for smashing a phone out of the hand of an Everton fan in April last year.
However, he could make his debut in Saudi Arabia when a team comprising of players from Al-Hilal and Al-Nassr takes on Paris Saint-Germain in a friendly match on Thursday.
It appears Ronaldo will captain the Saudi All-Star XI that will square off with Paris Saint-Germain on Thursday.
Turki Al-Sheikh, Saudi Arabia’s current chairman of general authority for entertainment, posted a video on Twitter where Cristiano Ronaldo was given the armband, seemingly suggesting CR7 will captain the Saudi All-Star XI against Paris Saint-Germain.
The friendly match will also see Cristiano Ronaldo and Lionel Messi come up against each other. Both Ronaldo and Messi are widely regarded as the greatest footballers ever to play the beautiful game.
The last time Ronaldo and Messi faced each other was back in December 2020. Ronaldo was with Juventus and Messi was with Barcelona at that time. Juventus cruised to a 3-0 win in that Champions League game, with Cristiano Ronaldo starring with two goals.
