Enzo Fernandez: Benfica manager Roger Schmidt has said he is confident Enzo Fernandez will stay at the Portuguese outfit beyond the end of the January transfer window and that the Argentine is not thinking about a move to Chelsea.
Chelsea were interested in signing Enzo Fernandez earlier this January transfer window, but the move did not materialize after the Blues failed to reach an agreement with Benfica over a transfer fee.
The Guardian has reported that Chelsea are set to revive their interest in Enzo Fernandez and that the Stamford Bridge outfit are planning a fresh move for the highly-rated Argentine midfielder.
Amid reports of Chelsea reigniting their interest in acquiring the services of Enzo Fernandez before the January transfer window closes, Roger Schmidt has insisted the 22-year-old will not leave the club this month.

Roger Schmidt answered in the affirmative when asked if he was confident Enzo Fernandez will stay at Benfica beyond the end of the January transfer window.
The Benfica manager also insisted that the Argentine midfielder is not thinking about a move to Chelsea.
“Yes. When you see Enzo playing for Benfica you see a very happy player, in great shape,” Roger Schmidt said.
“He’s not thinking about anything else. I’m not expecting to lose any of our regulars, and that’s why I see very focused players and I hope this stays that way.”
Enzo Fernandez has a £106m release clause in his contract. Benfica are unlikely to budge on its stance and will only sell the midfielder if the release clause is paid in full.
Chelsea were reluctant to trigger the release clause when they made moves to sign the midfielder earlier this month.
The Blues, who have been very active in the January transfer window, are looking to bolster their midfield department before the winter transfer window closes.
It remains to be seen if Chelsea will pull off a deal for Fernandez before the January transfer window slams shut.
Meanwhile, Chelsea recently saw a bid of £55m for Moises Caicedo rejected by Brighton & Hove Albion. The Ecuadorian midfielder remains an option for Chelsea, while the Blues also have his teammate Alexis Mac Allister in their sights, according to The Guardian.
