Jean-Michel Larqué Former Paris Saint-Germain midfielder has lamented the lack of defensive contribution from the French heavyweights’ star-attacking trio of Lionel Messi, Neymar Jr, and Kylian Mbappe.
Jean-Michel Larqué believes Paris Saint-Germain are an unbalanced team with three attackers who do not defend. The former PSG midfielder also suggested PSG do not have a defensive department strong enough to win the Champions League title.

Paris Saint-Germain are an unbalanced team with three attackers who do not defend, says Jean-Michel Larqué

PSG will take on another European heavyweight in the Champions League round of 16. The Ligue 1 side will square off with Bundesliga champions Bayern Munich in the last 16 of Europe’s premier club competition.
Speaking on Rothen Ignites, former Paris Saint-Germain player Jean-Michel Larqué, who is now a sports journalist, expressed concerns about the club’s defense.
“Ramos’ performance crystallizes criticism but I wouldn’t want to blame all the ills, all the responsibilities of an unbalanced team on a single player,” Jean-Michel Larqué said on Rothen Ignites [via Paris Fans].
“We often speak, tactically, of an unbalanced team with three attackers who do not defend. There is a defense that is still in great difficulty in my eyes because the effort of the Parisian leaders is constantly focused on the names in front. And behind, from time to time, we take a player who gives satisfaction.”
Jean-Michel Larqué added that teams win big competitions only when they have a solid defense and suggested PSG currently lacks one.
Meanwhile, PSG currently sits top of the points table in Ligue 1. The defending champions have 47 points from 19 matches in the French top flight so far in the 22/23 season.
PSG have won 15 of the 19 games they have so far played in the Ligue 1 in the ongoing campaign. They have also suffered two defeats and drawn two matches in the Ligue 1 so far in the 22/23 season.
PSG enjoys a three-point lead at the top over second-placed Lens, who have 44 points from 19 matches in the Ligue 1 so far this season.
